about
Following 2014's "Gone Again' LP NYC by way of Portland act Leisure offer up a trilogy of singles recorded by Connor Hanwick (formerly The Drums, Pains Of Being Pure At Heart) in Brooklyn,NY and mastered by Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Eaters and more) at Studio Windows.
Originally intended to be part of a greater piece tentatively titled "Hand In Fear" before growing pains, life changes and ultimately a crumbling world took course.
While "Gone Again" was a paisley punk outing grabbing influence from Wire, The Soft Boys, Wipers and more while tempering in fragmented ambient elements- these new recordings take inspiration from China Crisis, Felt, minimal synth, Berlin era Bowie/ Iggy, NYC's underground club culture & extend on themes of love & loss.
Here the group founder Jon Jurow is joined by Gryphon Graham and Leif Anders on additional guitars, synthesizers and bass respectively as well as Eric Cardona of Mr Twin Sister on saxophone for the lead single "Seasons"
Jurow is currently now based in Richmond, Virginia after spending pandemic in south Texas, other members now in Philadelphia, Los Angeles and beyond.
We didn't mean to wait til the end to finally release this material, but now more than ever we feel and hope these songs can bring a sense of comfort, escape and inspiration to those who hear it.
